SUMMARY:Seniors-to-Seniors Presentation and Tea
DESCRIPTION:Each May\, LLI “seniors” gather to honor Bard College’s graduating seniors who were selected as recipients of the Dean Stuart Stritzler-Levine Seniors-to-Seniors Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to the honorees to assist with their senior projects. The grants are one of the many ways that LLI strives to give back to Bard and to strengthen the ties between the generations. \nIn the past\, student topics have ranged from: \n\nStudying conceptions of racial and bi-racial identity in Japanese culture;\nStudying the experiences of refugees and displaced persons in Germany;\nExploring China’s one-child policy;\nAnalyzing the functional redundancy of Presenilin-1 and -2 in Alzheimer’s disease; and\nAnalyzing the London Eye and the theoretical concepts that inform the various perceptions of this urban landmark.\nStudent films\, photography projects\, and original translations have also been presented.\n\nAt the end of the presentations\, afternoon tea will be served with LLI member-made delicious sandwiches\, desserts\, and pastries. Fresh fruit is available. At this time members will have an opportunity to talk to the students and ask questions about their projects. \nThis event is on Thursday\, May 17 in Weis Cinema at Bertlesmann Campus Center\, 10 a.m until 12 noon.
