Around Bard: Hessel Museum of Art

The NY times Says It's Worth the Ride

The CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art is part of Bard’s Center for Curatorial Studies. It is a venue exploring various ways to present contemporary visual art and it serves as a laboratory for the graduate students at the Center for Curatorial Studies. The New York Times recently featured Bard’s CCS Hessel Museum in its article “Worth the Ride: 5 Surprising Exhibit Spaces in Upstate New York.”

The current exhibit focuses on a sampling from the galleries of Pat Hearn and Colin De Land — both documentary materials and the art they exhibited. Hearn and De Land were the founders of the immensely influential Armory Show as well as presenting very political conceptual artists.

CCS also hosts a speaker series with both artists and curators. You can check their website calendar for upcoming events.
