Each year Bard LLI signals its appreciation of Bard’s unstinting support of our programs with donations supporting students. Our aim is to make it possible for students to pursue their interests, further their skills, and complete senior projects. We usually learn more about the results from the annual Seniors-to-Seniors Tea in the spring where students present the senior projects our grants have supported.

Every year, an influx of new members provides a fresh perspective on the strengths and limitations of Bard LLI. This year, 22 members from the class of 2023 responded to the new member survey, sharing their enthusiasm, insights, and concerns. Those comments will be taken to heart as we strive to improve our functioning and offerings.

Nominations are now being accepted for our 2024 election cycle for Council, the main governing body of LLI. Council comprises five elected officers, four elected members at large, and five standing committee chairpersons appointed by the president. Terms for all elected officers are two years.

The Indigenous Peoples’ luncheon on October 9 afforded 75 LLI members a glimpse of indigenous culture through the eyes of Tatiana Blackhorse, a Bard sophomore and member of the Navajo nation. Although she is half Hungarian, her beliefs, values, and perspectives on the world come from the Navajo teachings of her father’s heritage.
