SummerFest returns this June with an expanded list of offerings and a little more time for each class. Classes will run from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. From 10:30 to 11:00, a coffee break in the Olin Rotunda will offer a chance to socialize and relax.

Each May, LLI “seniors” gather to honor Bard College’s graduating seniors who were selected as recipients of the Dean Stuart Stritzler-Levine Seniors-to-Seniors Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to the honorees to assist with their senior projects. The grants are one of the many ways that LLI strives to give back to Bard and to strengthen the ties between the generations.

New Yorker cartoon ist Danny Shanahan wowed us with a fascinating talk and exposition of dozens of cartoons as well as some of the many front covers he has produced for the magazine.

Kathy Oconnor, a new LLI member, was the winner of the Intersession cartoon contest. Danny Shanahan, New Yorker cartoonist, completed the final cartoon, with Kathy’s caption included, and presented it to her on February 28 at Bread Alone in Rhinebeck.
Kathy says: “I come from a family with a rich history of being known for their colorful and quirky sense of humor.”
This is not her first attempt at a New Yorker cartoon.
