LLI Gifts to Bard

Each year LLI contributes a significant amount to Bard College in appreciation for the generous support the College affords us by giving us classroom space and extensive administrative support, enabling us to offer a high-quality educational program to LLI members. This fiscal year, LLI will donate approximately $28,000  to the College, an amount that is greater than 50% of our $53,000 annual budget.

The allocations that have been approved to date are:

  • $3,268 to the Dean Stuart-Levine Senior-to Senior Scholarships.  This program supports senior students’ projects ($3,750 can be donated to these scholarships, but requests fell short of this amount)
  • $5,500 for Community Action Awards under the auspices of the Bard College Center for Civic Engagement. This program funds internships for students who are engaged in community action projects.
  • $2,000 for four (4) $500 scholarships for students of the Bard High School/Early College Program, helping with the expenses they incur during their summer projects.
  • $1,500 to the Fund for Visual Learning. This money goes to students who need funds to purchase supplies for art courses.
  • $3,000 to the Joan Tower Composition Scholarship Fund.
  • $5,000 to the Bard College Conservatory of Music.  Funds were used by the Conservatory as part of a campaign for matching funds from the Mellon Foundation.
  • $3,000 to the Bard College Audio-Visual Department for needed equipment.
  • $2,000 to the Bard Office of Student Activities. The money was used to upgrade technical equipment in a room in the Campus Center.
  • $2,500 to Montgomery Place for archival materials.
