The Indigenous Peoples’ luncheon on October 9 afforded 75 LLI members a glimpse of indigenous culture through the eyes of Tatiana Blackhorse, a Bard sophomore and member of the Navajo nation. Although she is half Hungarian, her beliefs, values, and perspectives on the world come from the Navajo teachings of her father’s heritage.

President Robert Beaury certainly knows how to throw an annual meeting. The approximately 70 members who attended the May 12 event enjoyed a delightful breakfast and some live jazz, and applauded Robert’s optimistic view of the future of Bard LLI.

The six recipients of this year’s Dean Stuart Stritzler-Levine Seniors-to-Seniors Scholarship each presented a talk about their senior projects in the Lazlo Z. Bito ‘60 Auditorium on Friday, April 7th. This recognition seniors-to-seniors tea allowed LLI members and assorted Bard folk to hear about the always-interesting topics the Bard seniors chose and how they constructed their projects.

On Thursday, September 20th, the Friends of the Stevenson Library held a special opening and reception: an exhibit of 22 books from Alvin Patrick’s collection of approximately 5,000 rare or first edition books written by African Americans.
